In the last decade, the use of historical politics by the Russian ruling elite to solve pressing problems has made historical memory the subject of research. On the history of the Russian army's overseas campaign of 1813-1814 power and society paid attention during the period of social changes, active foreign policy activity (for example, drawing parallels between military actions in 1945 and 1813 in the middle of the 20th century), which led to different estimates and the transformation of the memory of this event in society.

he article is devoted to the analysis of views on the foreign campaign of the Russian army of 1813-1814. in the works of historians of the XIX - early XX century. Their writings are a cooling of the opinion of the educated elite on this historical event, as well as the political situation in the country and the world of that period.
