Esp in Psychology: Innovative Approach in Teaching Techniques

The article offers the author’s comprehensive methodology of teaching psychology students during English classes at universities. The authors propose the system of English classes pedagogical design based on anthropocentric approach in teaching – the implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as self-transformation of personality traits. Lessons structure is designed, firstly, on the results of passing the online test of G. Ammon; secondly, on systematic study of psychological concepts and their descriptions in English; thirdly, on the work with projects based on real practical situations and complex work with videos. The structure of the didactic material allows teachers to gradually introduce and discuss a wide range of special psychological terms in English, work on the semantics of vocabulary and the formation of communicative competence in all types of speech activity, taking into account the pragmatic and sociolinguistic aspects of its functioning.
