In the last decade in the Russian historical science has increased the interest in the events of the period of the Napoleonic wars. In the attention of historians are different aspects of the given issue: the characterization of the individual stages of the campaign, the degree of participation in the campaigns of different types of troops, military strategy and Russian foreign policy in the early nineteenth century. Today research results of scientists do not practically fall on the pages of school textbooks, and students continue to form distorted mythological knowledge about the period of 1812.
