The use of authentic video-materials as a means of formation of students’ foreign language communicative competence in non-linguistic higher education institutionsThe author defines the relevance of the study by the need to find out and expand the boundaries of the use of information and communication technologies, including authentic video-materials and methods of working with them for the development of students’ speaking skills and communicative competence. The use of Internet-resources as well as video-materials contributes to the creation of conditions for the formation of the corresponding types of competencies — communicative and informative ones. The purpose of the work is to research the didactic potential of authentic video-materials and to develop the course program on their basis for the formation of students’ communicative skills and an appropriate proficiency level while studying in non-linguistic universities. The author differentiates between the three constituents in the basis of the developed training program for the first-year students: linguistic, speech and socio-cultural components of foreign language communicative competence. As a result, the author reveals the importance of the developed course program and the possibility of its application in terms of formation of students’ foreign language communicative skills and professional competencies while studying the English course in higher education institutions. The results of the research allow us to outline a strategy for further work with authentic video-materials.
