Features of the Educational Concepts of the Roman Educator and Rhetorician Marcus Fabius QuintilianThe article examines the educational concepts of the outstanding ancient Roman rhetorician and teacher Mark Fabius Quintilian, which were formed by the first century AD. Their knowledge is necessary, firstly, to understand how the formation of philosophical and pedagogical thought took place in Ancient Rome; secondly, to find out which educational concepts the teacher Mark Fabius Quintilian borrowed from his predecessors, that include the Ancient Greek philosophy of education, and which he introduced into ancient Roman pedagogy himself. The purpose of the study of the pedagogical concepts of Marcus Fabius Quintilian sets the following tasks to: a) identify the essence of the Quintilian education system and trace its evolution in Roman history; b) analyze which innovations the teacher Marcus Fabius Quintilian introduced into the modern philosophy of education; c) show that his pedagogical innovations, which he developed and introduced into the ancient Roman education system, enriched modern pedagogy. Theoretical and methodological educational concepts developed by the ancient Roman philosopher and teacher Marcus Fabius Quintilian served as the basis for the formation of ancient Roman, and then Western European and Russian pedagogical science. The scientific novelty of the philosophy of education of the ancient Roman philosopher and teacher Marcus Fabius Quintilian is thanks to the fact that its pedagogical innovations were revealed in the scientific literature of domestic and Western authors, giving us a holistic idea of his educational system. In conclusion, we confirm the relevance of the educational concepts of Marcus Fabius Quintilian, which he introduced into modern pedagogical science.
