The article deals with the dialectical relationship between the significant qualities of a modern man: education and the ICT- competence. The author argues the need for the integrated approach to their formation and the development in the period of schooling. The contradictions arising in the process of formation and development of the qualities considered in the general education can and should be a source of development of the individual and the society as a whole.
