Using the Facebook Social Network in History Classes and Extracurricular Activities

This article presents the analysis of the author's experience on the usage of the social network Facebook within the frameworks of regular and extracurricular activities. The creation of a professional account and thematic groups, as well as the use of the latter to attract specialists into their own online projects, are under thorough investigation. This research covers the online events in the aspect of online shifts in the summer school camp; thematic teleconferences where students from different countries participate and discuss the most interesting issues for teenagers: both difficult pages of Soviet and post-Soviet history; interests of young people, from fashion to specifics of youth subcultures in different countries. The author considers the topical issue of modern competencies of teachers, the need for knowledge, and use of foreign languages in professional activities. The technology of interaction with the parent community is described. The article can be useful for teachers, parents, students of pedagogical universities, students of colleges.
