Actual Aspects of Teaching Academic Writing in Russian: Methodology and Technology (Based on the Work Experience of Universities With Foreign Postgraduate Students

The relevance of this research is explained by the importance of studying the attitude of foreign postgraduate students towards the teaching of authorial stance expression in order to develop a methodology for teaching foreign postgraduate students to express an authorial stance in a scientific text. The research presents the results of an anonymous survey conducted in April 2022 among 53 foreign postgraduate students studying at the universities in St. Petersburg. On the basis of the survey, the difficulties encountered by foreign postgraduate students during the writing and reading of a scientific text with the authorial stance expression were analyzed. The attitude of foreign postgraduate students towards the proposed educational materials and methods of teaching the authorial stance expression in a scientific text has been studied. The analysis of the survey data made it possible to establish that the teaching of foreign postgraduate students to express the authorial stance did not receive sufficient attention in teaching academic writing in Russian. The expediency of introducing the proposed educational materials and methods of teaching authorial stance expression into the methodology for teaching foreign postgraduate students academic writing in Russian is substantiated.
