A Structural and Functional Model for the Formation of Universal Educational Cognitive Actions Of Students by Means of Semantic Reading in Teaching Biology

The article presents a structural and functional model of the methodology for developing students’ universal educational cognitive actions by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology. The creation of the model is justified by the need to provide developed methodological materials for developing students’ universal educational cognitive actions by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology. At present, there are sufficient programs for developing students’ universal educational actions, but at the same time, there is insufficient methodological support for developing students’ universal educational cognitive actions by means of meaningful reading. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate, develop and test the model of the methodology for developing students’ universal educational cognitive actions by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology and a set of pedagogical conditions for its successful implementation. Materials and methods. The following methods were used in the study: historical analysis of scientific, methodological and psychological and pedagogical literature on the problem field of research into the problem of developing students’ universal educational cognitive actions by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology; method of interpreting basic terms and concepts; method of comparative analysis, observation, generalization of pedagogical experience, pedagogical experiment. The subject of the study is the process of forming universal educational cognitive actions of students by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology in basic school. Research results. The main results of the study consist in the development and testing of creative tasks for the formation of universal educational cognitive actions of students by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology in basic school; the formation of criteria and diagnostic tools for assessing the level of formation of universal educational cognitive actions of students. Conclusion. The problem of forming universal educational cognitive actions of students by means of meaningful reading in teaching biology in basic school remains relevant, determined by the transformations taking place in the field of general education aimed at improving the quality of teaching the subject “Biology” among students, the social need of society and the state as a whole for the formation of innovative activities in the younger generation. The innovative vector of future scientific research can be the problem associated with the formation of cognitive universal learning activities of the entire school course of biology at the levels of basic and secondary general education, necessary for successful passing of the state final certification.
